What I am coveting

With our house in disarray (on a mission to swap the living room with the dining room), and with this incredibly bone chilling weather, I have found comfort in online window shopping.

Here are a few things that I am currently coveting.

Peacock Print
If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for peacocks! Now, put a peacock in a dapper hat and suit and he becomes simply irresistible! I would definitely be proud to hang this up on my walls.

We have these black oversized leather couches (sofa would be too nice a word to describe them!) that we have had now for 6 years. They owe us nothing! However, they are super comfy and forgiving, especially when you have two young kids who jump, spill, & colour all over them. Until our girls stop viewing sofas as things that need to be punished, I will have to stick to dreaming about snuggling up in this beautiful sectional from G Romano.

If you have a chance to browse the online ebay store American Archive, I think, like me, you will start to want EVERYTHING! They have amazing vintage dresses, blouses and jackets.

I love bold prints, patterns and colours. This chair ticks all the boxes and looks every as bit comfortable as stylish. For now, I will have to stick to Suzani pillows or throws.

Is there anything you are coveting at the moment?

For the Love of Layers

When the weather is this unpredictable, it makes getting dressed in the morning even more difficult.  So how do you dress in this weather? The answer is simple - layers!

Layers allow you to mix and match more items in your closet which helps to  give your wardrobe a new look. Layering also provides warmth, the ability to remove layers to get cooler, and it's also an excuse to create an interesting and unique winter looks that are stylish and practical. Try layering textures, prints & colours.

This post is for me

It's amazing how one event. One conversation, one act, in one moment can change you. How it has an impact on you. How it shapes you or stays with you for the rest of your life.  I have had numerous moments like that in my life, some good and some bad. No matter the circumstances, I am who I am because of these events & how I chose to react to them. Since 2013 has started off with one of these kinds of events - I have decided to write a blog post for myself. A little reminder of who I am, where I have come from and where I want to go.

I am strong. Stronger than I think sometimes.

I am weak. Weaker than I would ever like to admit or acknowledge.  I will try this year to reach out for help. To show that I am vulnerable. To accept help when it is genuinely offered.

I am capable. Capable of anything I put my mind to.  I will do my best to not let myself get in the way. To not let excuses, or self doubt stop me from taking risks.

I am creative. Being creative doesn't mean I have to perfect. I want to find more time to express myself with new crafts and projects - without false expectations.

I am beautiful.  I need to remind myself of this on a regular basis.

I am at my best when I am active. This year I will make it a top priority.

I will make mistakes. And it's OK. I need to allow myself to make mistakes, it's the only way I am going to grow.

I am worthy. Worthy of being loved. Worthy of being treated with kindness, with respect.  I am worthy of happiness. Worthy of success.

I am me. The only person I can ever be is me. I will refrain from comparing. And start to truly embrace ALL that makes me, ME.

I will grow and change, as long as I am true to myself, and am surrounded by family and friends, I can do anything.

Happy New Year

How quickly time flies! I am still finding it hard to believe that another year has come and gone.  It's crazy that time seems to move at such a faster pace since we had our girls.  Everyday they are growing.  Developing into these incredible little beings that never cease to amaze me. Surprise me. Inspire me.

Looking back on 2012 - it was a wonderful year for us.  Full of ups and downs, twists and turns - a constant adventure.
Looking ahead, I have no doubt it will be even better.
2013 - we are ready for you!

Here's to another year, full of adventure & discovery!
