leaving footprints

Signs of spring are everywhere. It's hard not to get excited when the sun is shining and the breeze blows warmer winds. It's a wonderful time to get outside, welcome the sun, and reconnect. Reconnect with nature, reconnect with one another. That's what we did over the weekend.

We packed our blankets, packed a picnic lunch and set out to explore. We decided to try a conservation park that we had not been to before. Something new for us to discover - together.  We could tell that the girls we really looking forward to it. And they even packed their own backpacks to take along.

The drive was longer than we all expected or really wanted. But I think the fact that the sun was shining so brightly keeping Gertrude (our car, named by Ryan) a perfect temperature, that we were all just enjoying the ride.

Once we arrived at #2 Depot lake, we found a table by the water and right in the sun.  The girls sat happily, enjoying the snacks. We sat happily, enjoying the moment.  Our walk, although short, was perfect. The cool breeze was rejuvenating. The sound of the flowing water was restorative.  Our time together was invaluable.  Sometimes we leave footprints of where we have been. And sometimes, these memories leave footprints on us.

a Mink ran by right after I snapped this picture

Although the footprints we left in the snow won't last, they will however, be remembered.
