Happy Holidays

Well, we have been busy little elves here.  Making & baking. Shopping & wrapping. Now, it's time to relax and appreciate the joy and magic the season brings.

I am looking forward to hot chocolate by the fire, snowy walks on the mountain, meeting up with old friends, The Thomas family Christmas party, making snowmen with my girls, and so much more!

Wishing you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons!

Welcoming the winter fairies

In a previous post {here} I mentioned how much my girls love the Tinker Bell movies. So much so that we created fairy houses to put in our garden. With the release of the latest of the fairy movies, The Secret of The Wings, we set out to create houses for our new friends, the winter fairies.

Just like the last post, these bird houses were purchased from the dollar store, along with the blue snowflakes. The rest of the stuff we had on hand.

My girls were able to hold onto their excitement just long enough to paint the houses. Once that was done, they were off and on the the next thing.
When the houses were dry, I used a glue gun to add the little trinkets.

Simple. Fun. Magical.

Warm & Cool for Winter

The autumn leaves are falling, the days are getting shorter, and that frosty morning chill is a timely reminder to update our wardrobe with some new winter warmers.  But before you run out to buy yet another cozy sweater, here are some ultimate Winter Essentials worth investing in keep you warm while looking cool throughout the season.

A practical & stylish coat.  Let's face it, you will wear your coat for longer periods, & more often than probably almost anything else in your wardrobe, so it needs to be comfortable, it needs to be practical and it needs to be flattering.

Toppers.  There are many fun and flattering styles of hats, earmuffs and headbands to keep your head warm without sacrificing protection from the upcoming arctic temps.

This winter's top accessory trend are earmuffs. What more can you ask for? They keep your hair in style while keeping your ears warm!  There are lots of cute designs to choose from; decorated with fur or knit details, bold colours as well as other embellishments.

If earmuffs aren't quite your thing, then try a head scarf on for size.

Gloves. I don't know about you, but I can't stand for my hands to be cold, if my hands are cold my whole body is freezing. That's why winter gloves are an absolute necessity. And, if you have to have them, then why not make sure they are warm and pretty! Right?

Leather gloves will not only protect your hands, but they will be stylish enough to wear everywhere, even to dressy occasions. Look for either black or brown to match your coat or look for gloves in fun colours or prints to make a fashion statement.

Cold weather essentials

I am a firm believer that when you look good, you feel good.  But I also know that it may be tough when the temperature plummets!  However, I still try to make an effort especially when I leave the house. So here are 4 items that I deem essential if you want to stay fashionable yet warm during the winter months.

The Scarf - They do a lot more than just keep you cozy and warm.   They also act as a statement piece on even the simplest of  outfits.

I am currently coveting this scarf from Etsy.  Happy Fox Scarf

Knit Cardigan - Knit cardigans are ideal items of clothing to own in our climate, and are great for heating up any winter outfit. There are lots of options out there to choose from when it comes to colour, style and fit.  For a whole range of colours and styles check out The Bay.  I can never seem to get enough of the open cardigan.

I love the pattern on this one by Ralph Lauren.  wrapped in style

Boots - Lots of women struggle to find a boot that can brave our weather and look good at the same time.  Here are my 3 picks for warm and stylish boots.
Sorel Sorelia Earhart
Pajar  Laverne boot
Merrell Oslo-WTPF

Bold BottomsThis winter is also all about bold colours. While we usually associate winter with dark shades of greys, blacks and navy's, a great way to break out of the cold weather blues is to add a punch of colour!  Look for it in jeans, leggings and trousers. If you are really daring, go for these pink trousers at H&M.

So there are my tips to keeping warm and still looking stylish, and I would love to hear what item you can't live without this winter!
