Wall of Frame

If you like Pinterest Porn as much as I do, then I am sure that you have spent hours searching, perusing, and looking for all sorts of fun ideas, projects and crafts.  One thing that I kept searching for was inspiration to create a wall of picture frames.  What I found, was some really amazing images and ideas, but it was also extremely overwhelming. I liked the simple monochromatic layouts as well as the eclectic ones. I liked the ones that filled the walls top to bottom, as well as the super simple 5 image setups. By the end of all my searching, I was really no further ahead!

So, I decided to take a step back, look at the picture frames I had on hand, and then add any other frame that caught my eye. By doing this, my style was able to come out. I then added some fun and whimsical pieces to complete the montage.  I am SUPER happy with how it turned out.

This is what our wall looked like before.

This was how I laid out the frames on our dining table to get an idea of the placement on our wall.
However, the final result looks nothing like this! Instead of covering up the old holes from the previous pictures that were hung, I used them as the starting point.

 The final result.

I love it! It's eclectic. It's personal. And it's images of the most important people in my life.

Mod Podge

I did it! I finally purchased some Mod Podge.  I guess this was next step to becoming a legitimate crafter, ok, maybe not legitimate, but close enough!  It's no wonder that Mod Podge is a true crafting staple and no doubt found in every craft-onistas closet. This miracle 3-in-one product is a glue, sealer, and finish, all in one retro looking bottle. And that's not all folks - you also have a choice of finishes: gloss, satin, and even sparkle and fabric versions!  A whole new world of crafting possibilities has opened up for me. Cue heavenly music.

So for my first mod podging(?) I made a cute little frame for one of Ryan's friends who was turning 4.
I bought some pretty scrapbook paper, a wooden frame, a small wooden flower along with some sponges.

Another reason why I love this stuff, it's foolproof! Which is great for an unskilled and impatient diy'er like myself.

And...voila! My very first attempt at Mod Podge was a success!

And to add a touch of personalisation, I added a felt K to the centre of the frame.

Plus, I made a cute little card, appropriately with 4 candles - yes, I even used Mod Podge to glue the candles on!

A fun and easy birthday present.

Now...what shall I Mod Podge next?

frame it

There is small section of wall, right before entering our kitchen that has been in need of some 'love'.  Before we repainted, there was a small picture hanging on it and now, all that is left, is a lonely nail. Just waiting for something to be hung. The original artwork was a bit too small for the space and I have been on the lookout for something to replace it, but nothing has grabbed me.  Until now.

My daughter Ryan came up with the idea of framing the doilie.
Brilliant!
Here's the process and the final product.
Easy-Peasy

It fits perfectly, it looks great, and best of all every time Ryan walks past it she says "I came up with the idea.".
